Book 1

Selected Red Frog Metal Design handbound books are available online in the marketplace at ironwork.com .

HAND BOUND BOOKS & JOURNALS

Handmade journals to capture your creativity. These custom-made books are lush with color and texture, from the riveted mild steel covers to spines crafted from leather with intricately woven and sewn bindings. All journals are made with white Johannot acid-free paper with exposed deckle edges or black Arches acid-free cover stock, to hold a lifetime of creative journaling. Journals range in size from 3.5x4.5 to 8.5x11.

Book 6 HEAVILY TEXTURED COVERS AND METAL RIVET BINDINGS

Each journal is unique...textures range from heavily-worked forged firescale on mild steel, to edges notch-cut in an elegant scallop pattern. Hand-set rivets, cut-throughs and a wide variety of colors derived from the inherent qualities of the metal make each volume a gestural, elemental work.

Book 12 HANDWOVEN INTRICATE SPINE BINDINGS

Each book is firmly bound with leather, heavy gut and handmade paper. Using hand-sewn binding techniques that create both structure and artistry, spines reveal the complexity of the binding process. Traditional sewn and folded techniques include piano-hinge, long-stitch, variations on the buttonhole stitch and coptic bindings.
